Yspaniola

Intern With Us

Yspaniola offers internships to students who are recent graduates or currently enrolled in Bachelor’s and Master’s programs. These internships may span a summer, a semester, or a full year (Fellowship). During their internships, interns have the opportunity to teach and tutor in the Learning Center and support our University Scholarship, Summer Camp, Development, and Community Outreach programs, while learning first-hand about NGO operations. Yspaniola’s internships are traditionally 9-14 weeks long (but the length of the internship is up to the applicant) and include a variety of cultural trips and learning opportunities around the Dominican Republic.

We encourage and provide resources for interns/fellows to improve their Spanish, learn Haitian Creole, and to pursue their own interests, including: writing, photography, marketing, fundraising, and more. Yspaniola interns develop both personally and professionally, as they contribute to daily operations and become fully immersed in the social, political, and economic environments of Batey Libertad and the Dominican Republic. Interns are required to pay a fee to cover housing, food and transportation while in the country, but Yspaniola can assist in fundraising or applying for school-sponsored funding.
